The cone-shaped body is adorned with an image of the Lamassu, a mythical creature from ancient Mesopotamian mythology. The Lamassu is depicted as a human-headed winged bull, with powerful muscles and a regal posture. In ancient mythology, the Lamassu was considered a protective deity, guarding the gates of cities and palaces and warding off evil spirits. Its imposing form and fierce countenance were believed to offer protection and good fortune to those who sought its aid. The image of the Lamassu on this stone seal is rendered with incredible precision and detail. The figure is depicted facing to the left, with wings outstretched and a bow at the ready. Its human head is adorned with a crown or headdress, adding to its regal appearance. The stone seal is threaded onto a delicate gold hoop with overlapping terminals to secure it.
