Two George II silver casters by Samuel Wood, London 1744 and 1751, the older example with floral scroll decoration to body and domed cover pierced with flower motifs to elongated finial, approx. 13cm high, the later example with plain, baluster body to domed, pierced cap with knopped finial, approx. 14cm high, total weight approx. 7.2oz (2)Condition Report: Both in fairly good overall conditionmensurate with age but show some signs of wear including surface scratching, nicking and minor pitting.The 1751 example has the remains of a sticky label which have not polished off and may require tougher methods of removal. A large patch is visible to the body of this example where a cartouche looks to have been replaced. Steady on foot. Piercing in good condition. Hallmarks partially rubbed to cap. Bruising to finial. 1744 example: some repairs noted to body. Thinness to cartouche indicating previous erasures and some splitting in this area. Some wear to decoration. Piercing to cap in good condition but some dings and bruising. No hallmarks to cap. Some bruising to finial.
