A Worcester 'Queen Charlotte' pattern teapot and cover, c.1765-75, blue 'fretted square' mark, the body of globular form and decorated with spiralling stripes in blue, red, puce and gilding, the cover modelled with a flower finial and green branch, 16cm high Footnotes: Note: The decoration of this teapot is named after Queen Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, who visited the Worcester factory in 1788 with her husband King George III and purchased various wares, although she likely had no involvement with the design of the pattern, which takes inspiration from Japanese Arita porcelain. Condition Report: As can be seen from the online photograph, the finial of the cover has a metal repair, the petals of the flower with some minor losses. The exterior with some scratches to the paintwork across the body. The handle with some dirt and imperfections to the porcelain. The spout with some light wear to the gilding. The interior of the body with a small crack to the pouring holes, some dirt and imperfections to the porcelain, and a hairline crack emanating just below the base of the handle. The foot with some wear consistent with age.
