A RARE GILT-BRONZE FIGURE OF ACALA, TIBET, 16th ct., cast in kneeling posture on a lotus base with his right hand brandishing a sword while the left is showing the tarjanimudra and holding the lasso, wearing dhoti secured with a broad belt set to the front with the belt-hook incrusted with beads and decorated with swaying beaded tassels, scarf floating around his shoulders with its streamers curling down and its finials falling on the base, jewellery set with semi-precious stones, his face displaying a ferocious expression with bulging eyes below bushy eyebrows, third eye, broad nose, open mouth showing pair of fangs, his hair combed in a chignon and covered with a crown set with some beads, secured with a five-leaf tiara ornamented with a pair of pattras and floating ribbons, its reverse with rectangular closed cavity probably containing relics, with inventory number BT 100, unsealed - Very minor wear, few inlays lost
