钤印：潘圣一钞校 提要：陈继儒一生有酷好藏书、读书之癖，经常高兴地对弟子说：“吾读未见书如得良友，见已读书如逢故人。”他晚年“抽忆旧闻”，把古今学者围绕读书目的、态度、方法等方面足资借鉴的言行事迹纂为一篇，得十六条，名为《读书十六观》，作为激励、指导子弟读书的榜样。改书言简意赅，强调读书的目的在于学以致用，反对脱离实践死读书本，以此为“读者当作此观”之第一条。
