A carved schist statuette of the Buddha sitting cross-legged with right hand flat on the chest and left hand cupped in the Dharmachakra mudra, (teaching the Buddhist laws pose) dais with flaming altar and worshippers; mounted on a custom-made stand. 11.1 kg, 42.5cm including stand (16 1/2"). Property of a London Gandharan art collector, acquired in the late 1990s; formerly with various UK sources acquired by them since the 1960s. Fine condition.
