A silver finger ring comprising A D-section hoop and keeled shoulders, cell to the bezel with beaded wire collar, inset carnelian(?) gemstone, intaglio eagle on a plinth with wreath in its beak. Cf. Ruseva-Slokoska, L. Roman Jewellery, Sofia, 1991, item 205 for type. 25.11 grams, 29.39mm overall, 19.86mm internal diameter (approximate size British R, USA 8 1/2, Europe 18 3/4, Japan 18) (1 1/4"). From the collection of a European gentleman living in South London; acquired 1970-1980. Very fine condition. A large wearable size.
