A carnelian cabochon with intaglio Minerva (Greek Athena) standing on a baseline, nimbate holding sword and shield; set in a later gold ring. 11 grams, 32mm overall, 19.40mm internal diameter (approximate size British S 1/2, USA 9 1/4, Europe 20.73, Japan 20) (1 1/4"). Property of a London gentleman; acquired by his father in the 1970s; thence by descent. Very fine condition. A large wearable size.
