A silver finger ring comprising a cusped D-section hoop, angled shoulders with raised volute scroll, plaque with scroll detailing, inset carnelian cabochon with intaglio Minerva (Greek Athena) standing with spear, shield and helmet. Cf. Ruseva-Slokoska, L. Roman Jewellery, Sofia, 1991, item 184 for type. 11.91 grams, 30.77mm overall, 24.48x19.11mm internal diameter (approximate size British S 1/2, USA 9 1/4, Europe 20.63, Japan 19) (1 1/4"). From the collection of a European gentleman living in South London; acquired 1970-1980. Very fine condition. A large wearable size.
