Rare half-frame box design with original 35mm cartridges.
The Agfa-Ansco Memo was a unique piece of early photographic design based more on 35mm cinema camera than most still cameras. Designed when 35mm film wasn't considered practical for still photography, in the same decade Leica made their own bid to change consumers' minds on the format, the Memo has a clever linear advance similar to how cinema cameras feed their film. An auto-cocking shutter, 5 shutter speeds and 4 aperture settings, top mounted viewfinder, frame counter, and tote handle complete the look. Such cameras were highly praised by American Boy Scouts at the time who, like European Leica users, saw the brilliant benefits of a lightweight 35mm camera for backpacking and mountaineering- a movement which would soon relegate large format cameras to portrait studios and fashion shows. Comes with a suede leather case.
