This lot consists of three thermoplastic cases with fruit and floral themes. The first case has a tintype of gentleman sporting a bow-tie and goatee. The tintype is a ninth plate, and the case was manufactured by Holmes, Booth & Haydens, a company in Waterbury, Connecticut, that made copper-silver plates for daguerreotyping. The embossed covers feature a basket with fruit, and the motif is repeated on front and back (Krainik 402).
