This lot consists of two thermoplastic cases with floral themes. The smaller case has a tintype of a gentleman wearing a suit and bow-tie. The tintype is a ninth plate and hand-colored. The embossed covers depict a floral bouquet and the motif is repeated on the front and back (Krainik 417, Spray of Flowers and Ribbon). The ruby velvet lining is in very good condition and the case has a snug clasp. The case was made by Littlefield Parsons in the 1850Â’s and measures 3 x 2 9/16 in. wide. The bigger case features an ambrotype of a gentleman with a suit and chain. The ambrotype is a sixth plate. The embossed covers feature a basket with a bouquet of flowers, and this motif is repeated on front and back (Krainik 193, Large Basket of Flowers). The ruby velvet lining has modest wear, the clasp is snug and the corners are sharp. The case was made by Holmes, Booth & Hayden in the 1850Â’s and measures 3 5/16 x 3 3/4 in. wide.
