Description
Translation provided by Youdao
These are two thermoplastic cases with daguerreotypes. The smaller case shows the image of a gentleman with a suit and tiepin. The daguerreotype is a ninth plate, and the embossed covers have a motif that is repeated on front and back(Krainik 407, Three Pears). The velvet lining has very light wear, and the case has a snug clasp. The case was made by Holmes, Booth & Hayden in the 1850’s and measures 3 x 2 1/2 in. wide. The larger case features two young teens, probably brother and sister. The daguerreotype is a sixth plate and the frame is very attractive. The embossed covers feature a geometric motif that is repeated on front and back (Krainik 303, Scroll / Geometric). The velvet lining is loose and has light wear, but the clasp is snug and the case has nicely rounded corners. The case was made by Littlefield Parsons in the 1850's and measures 3 3/4 x 3 5/16 in. wide.
