A pair of gauntlets with the original leather gloves, Nuremberg, circa 1580 The articulated metacarpi of four lames with a raised, roped knuckle guard. The attached finger scales grooved all over. The attached thumb plates opening on a hinge, with three and four finger scales still in place. The tapering cuffs with triple fullers and finely turned and roped edges, the tips of the cuffs slightly damaged. All pieces struck with a Nuremberg proof mark. The original interior gloves made of chamois-dressed leather preserved in both gauntlets. Length of each 40 cm.Condition: II -
