A French deluxe small-sword with finely chiselled hilt, circa 1730 Narrow thrusting blade of triangular section, slightly pitted in places, finely etched scrolling bands and decorative tendrils in the upper quarter. Iron knuckle-bow hilt with an oval guard plate on both sides. Finely chiselled, raised ornamentation on a chased, gold-inlaid background. Depiction of antique-style mythological figures amidst decorative tendrils. The hilt with the original silver wire winding and Turk's heads. The associated scabbard in black leather with chased, gold-inlaid fittings. Length 91.5 cm.Condition: II
