c.21st-mid 15th century BC. A large bronze tripartite spearhead with biconvex blade and flattened tang. See similar spearhead in Gernez, G., Larmament en métal au Proche et Moyen-Orient: des origines a 1750 av. J.C., Paris, 2007, fig.2.88, pl.319, for the type. 315 grams, 27.7cm (11"). Ex Abelita family collection, 1980-2015. The spearhead belongs to the subtype L2.B.d of the Gernez classification. There are two main variants of this type: one with a rounded biconcave blade and rhomboidal section, like in the present specimen; the second with a blade of more triangular shape and circular-section stem; both with a tang, almost equally wide and flattened. Various examples have been excavated in the necropolis of Khinaman and from Bactria. Condition Report Fine condition.
