TWO RARE SQUARE FAMILLE ROSE 'COCKEREL' DISHES Yongzheng/early Qianlong period, circa 1730-1740 each dish with canted corners, painted in vibrant rose enamels with pairs of cockerels amidst richly painted peony sprays rising from rockwork to the central wells and surrounded at the border by pink chrysanthemum heads within a scrolling blue cartouche at the corners and further smaller flowers on stems between, the rims brown-dressed and the reverses plain. 8 1/4in (21cm) square (2).
