Description: A relatively large vase with an accentuated shoulder and everted lip. Long blossoms hanging from a wisteria tree all on a dark midnight blue ground. The flowers of this tree, called kushakufuji in Japan, can reach lengths of up to 200 cm; in Japan, they are also known as Fujinami, or ‘Fuji waves’. On this vase, some blossoms are white enamel while others are in a more violet shade. One branch with a single umbel reaches the rear side. Lined wooden box. Condition: Very good condition Provenance: From an Austrian private collection, formerly collection Doblhoff This fine selection of Japanese cloisonné pieces (nos. 16-33) comes from an art dealer’s collection who acquired the pieces over 15 years, most of them from Austrian flea markets, fairs and estates. He developed a passion and deep understanding for the incredibly cumbersome technique of cloisonné which is reflected in the selection, featuring the great names of Namikawa Yasuyuki and Namikawa Sosuke.
