Description: Each seated on a dark brown tree stump base. The bodies decorated in yellow enamel with black fur and the mouths and ears are detailed in iron-red; turquoiseblue eyes. This type of model is rarely ever seen on the market, they originate from the 17th century (Arita kakiemon ware). The execution of the painting of the fur, eye brows and naturalistic-playful expressions are strikingly similar to the 17th century models. Condition: Very good condition Provenance: From a German private collection A similar pair of tigers, but earlier (17th century), was sold at Christie’s on 16th May 2012, lot 243.
