Description: Ovoid form on a flush foot, short neck with beaded, flared lip. Two large medallion fields with lobedpointed contours. The scenes are full of figures and depict bearded wisemen, some of whom are surrounded by smaller figures (children?). The other image features musicians, one of the bearded men dancing, some drinking. In the background are old pine trees and a splashing waterfall. The filler spaces have golden motifs against a shiny darkblue background. On the bottom is the following inscription inside a heart-shaped contour: on the right, KEN-ZAN 串山, in the middle, Satsumayaki 薩 摩 焼 (Satsuma ceramic); on the left, Toki 陶器 (ceramic), as well as the Shimazu family crest. Condition: Very well preserved Provenance: From an Austrian private collection
