Description: An uma (horse) with a splendidly long and richly painted tail, lowered head and large eyes, in a hilly landscape in the foreground. Very finely washed nuances contrast with the gnarly trunk of the willow tree in the background. Inscription with date, “Tenpo 11th year [1840]”, followed by “Kone roku gatsu” and signature BUN-CHO 文 晁 hitsu 筆 on the bottom right. Red hyotan frame contains also “Buncho”. Mounted with silk brocade and gold, ivory jikusaki. Condition: Good condition Provenance: From a German private collection
