Description: The first Nadegaku gata, a rounded rectangular iron tsuba, the roughened surface carved in low relief with swirling clouds and mountains. The takabori (relief carving) is missing but a silhouette of a man is still visible - unsigned; the second a Maru-gata tsuba carved in high relief with rabbits in a mass of breaking waves, illegible signature; the third Nagamaru gata, an oval sukashi tsuba pierced with a stylized geometric design in openwork; the fourth a twenty-lobed tsuba carved with clouds in the outer ring and decorated in gold nunome, unsigned; the fifth a Maru-gata tsuba decorated on either side with a bronze gilt tatsu (serpent body dragon) in takabori (relief carving), with signs of silver inlay, unsigned. Condition: All with rust-patina; the first dented plate with missing inlays; the second with typical traces of use and wear; the third with minimal signs of old nunome; the fourth with faded numome; the fifth, originally with four tatsu dragons, now with two and a half missing Provenance: From a Hungarian private collection
