Hotei in takamaki-e with gold on one side, laughing heartily, with a fat belly, gleefully walking along (historically he was a travelling monk and fortuneteller in the 10th century) and carrying his huge sack with a long stick. Silver full moon on the rear. Signature TO-GI 桃 宜 and Kao on the underside. The spherical ojime is made from red coral, the also spherical manju netsuke made from ivory shows a depiction of Jurojin, who represents longevity and scholarly success.
