Ebisu is the god of fishermen and merchants; his characteristic features include his cap and the Tai fish. He is also called the ‘laughing god’, which is what this okimono expresses in a lively manner. The fish is almost as large as Ebisu himself and putting up a tough fight. Probably just a tussle for fun, the deity is laughing gleefully. Signature RO-KO 六 甲 on the underside at the end of the robe.
