Light celadon color jade with russet inclusions, smooth surface polish China, Qing Dynasty This auspicious jade group of two mandarin ducks and lotus symbolizes a happy and loving family life. This subject became highly popular in the later Ming dynasty but remained cherished throughout the Qing reign as well. In this example we see the ducks both holding the same lotus flower stem in their beaks and in tender embracement.
