PAIR OF FIREPLACE CHENETS "AUX BUSTES DE CHINOIS ET D'INDIEN", Louis XV, from a Parisian master workshop, the bronze with "c couronné" (a revenue stamp placed on all copper alloys between1745 and 1749), ca. 1745/49. Gilt bronze. Frame with the bust of a Chinese person and an American Indian, respectively, as a symbol for Asia and North America. On scrolled feet. 41x19x33 cm.
