18th Century, The high valued Chinese Zitan wood is delicately carved unto two squared tall forms, with flat shoulder gently waisted to the flared rim, and raised upon splayed base. Each box formed by five square containers, stacked over the other, which the top creates the lid. Each sides inlaid with HuangYangMu burl boxwood panel. The pair Zitan boxes shows lustrous dark purplish-brown patina with very fine feathery grain.
