Devine Chinese Zitan Altar table. The table has a rectangular top with a framed center slab of Huanghuali. A carved band runs the perimeter of the table just below the top which is preceded by a handle-bar shaped apron that connects to each post. The legs are angular in shape and taper outwards ever-so-slightly until they reach the ground where they connect to a rectangular foot base. The legs are braced by two parallel dowels supports making the structure very sound. Sturdy ancient construction with perfectly joined mortise and tenon. The Zitan wood display smooth lustrous dense hardwood with dark purple-brown hues patina and feathery fine grain.
