A stunning Lapis Lazuli rectangular table screen with inlaid jade stone. Depicted is a central pagoda surrounded by various animals and Daoist scholars. The Fu-bat, crane, and water buffalo can be found intermingled amongst the cloud and rock sculpting. Various celestial items litter the carving such as the Lingzhi fungus. Cranes are known to resemble both longevity and wisdom. Fu can be translated to mean bat, prosperity, good fortune, and can even delineate happiness. Because of their importance to agriculture, the water buffalo or ox (niu) symbolizes springtime, harvest, and fertility. Lingzhi is known as the fungus of immortality and is considered by Daoist mystics to be nourishment for immortals (Xian). Lingzhi is also a symbol of longevity. It's believed that Lingzhi grows in the dwelling of the Immortals and that whoever consumed the hallowed fungus achieved divinity. The Lapis Lazuli slab is vibrant in color and has a breathtaking aura. The Elaborately carved wooden frame perfectly accentuates this work of art.
