Extravagant Ming Chinese Jiajing blue porcelain double-gourd vase. Double gourd resemblance, with bulbous lower section converging into a lemon-shaped midsection and finishing into a slender bottleneck at the top. The bottom forms a substantial ring-base with a flat offset face. Delicately decorated around the exterior with variegate tones and shades of cobalt blue, with glazed elderly sage figurines circumscribing the bottom portion. A harmonious display of deep blue patterns and still life depictions adorn the pure white underglaze. The glaze terminates slightly before the foot rim, showing a mixture of creme-colored clay and white glaze flecks left after the firing process. Elegantly displayed upon a carved wooden stand. Mark on base, a vertical six blue underglazed script -KaiShu- characters, JiaJing Reign Period of Great Ming Dynasty.
