Finely preserved Ming Dynasty porcelain plate in a shallow vessel, with rounded cavetto rising to form the raised sides. The bowl has a slightly flared rim and rests upon a ring footed base. The exterior decorated with hand painting in SanCai glaze pigmentation. The exterior is encapsulated in orange-red underglaze with yellow five-claws dragon soaring through the clouds above shan mountain ranges. Similar dragons circumscribe the outer-rim where they soar toward a flaming pearl. Dragon is the symbol of the Emperor, the Son of Heaven, eternity, Yang and Yin, male vigor and fecundity. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant glaze finish that was applied by a meticulous craftsman. Mark under exterior rim, a horizontal six script -KaiShu- characters reign mark, enclosed within rectangular frame border, JiaJing reign Period of Great Ming Dynasty.
