Description
Translation provided by Youdao
Lavish Chinese Qianlong DouCai porcelain plate. A shallow curvature flares upward to form the rim, while the plate is raised on a circular footing. The rim has a double blue ring around the inner edge. The interior depiction is of a two-tiered pagoda amidst thrashing Li-shui waves. Soaring above the pagoda is a crane with a large fish in its beak. Cranes are known to resemble both longevity and wisdom. A crane pictured alongside a pagoda which is a place of worship could symbolize spiritual wisdom. DouCai means colors which fit together which is evident in this harmoniously painted bowl. The artistry is a combination of underglaze cobalt blue outlines and enamels added on top of the fired glaze, within the outlines. This glazing technique was invented during the Ming, Xuande period but are mostly related to the Ming, Chenghua rule from (1465-87). The blue elements of the design were painted under the glaze. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant glaze finish that was applied by a meticulous craftsman. Mark on base, a six blue underglaze seal script -ZhuanShu- characters reign mark, QianLong Reign Period of Great Qing Dynasty.
