Chinese porcelain in shape of flattened octagonal lobed plum shape body, the upper half forming the cover fitting perfectly along the scalloped edges on the box. Each bulging sides enclosing colorful falangcai, famille rose on a colored ground decoration, of BaJiXiang, the Eight Buddhist Emblems, enclosed within floral motif cartouches. Trimmed with gilt overglaze bands on both outer rims and foot ring base. The character for a small box sounds the same as He which can mean peace; harmony and so a box portrayed in a picture symbolizes peaceful wishes. This wish is amplified by the presence of lotus leaves and a scepter. He-he er Xian - the Heavenly twins of Harmony and Union are shown as two boys one carrying a box (or sometimes a bowl) and the other a lotus. Mark on the turquoise-green glazed underbase, a six red underglaze seal script -ZhuanShu- characters, QianLong Reign Period.
