Chinese Guan Ware Oily Gray Glazed Pear-Shape Vase. Very thinly potted, resting on a slightly flared foot pierced with a circular aperture on the sides, rising from a swelling body and tapering to a gently everted mouth, the collar with a double-band of horizontal raised ribs, flanked by a pair of tubular handles, applied overall with a lustrous opaque creamy-gray oily glaze, suffused with black craquelure crackles, the foot rim unglazed and burnt to a dark-brown persimmon color in the firing, from the Xiu Nei Si Official Kiln. Southern Song Dynasty. {Height: 7 3/8 inches (19 cm)}.
