Antonio Nicolo Gasparo Jacobsen (Danish/American, 1850-1921) The Schooner Yacht Dreadnaught Signed and dated "A. JACOBSEN, N.Y. 1878" l.r., titled on a presentation plaque. Oil on board, 22 x 36 in., in a later gilt molded frame. Condition: Relined, repaired tear with associated retouch in the sky. Literature: Harold Sniffen, Antonio Jacobsen The Checklist (The Mariner's Museum, 1984), p. 92, #15. Note: The Dreadnaught, painted shortly before Jacobsen moved to New Jersey, was built in 1871 by Poillon Brothers and owned by Albert W. Nickerson.
