Apple Twentieth Anniversary Macintosh (T.A.M.),
The so-called 'Twentieth Anniversary Macintosh' was produced in limited numbers to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of Apple's founding (1977-1997), not to be confused with the founding year of 1976, April 1 to be precise. This computer was considered the state of the art in design and technology, and in fact it introduced a series of innovative elements such as the active matrix color liquid crystal display, the first in a desktop computer, the touchpad, an ATI 3D graphics card, an audio-video system capable of reproducing even radio-television sources with picture-in-picture technology. It was developed in collaboration with Bose System for the audio part, which consisted of a separate subwoofer (which also acted as power supply), midrange stereo speakers and tweeters built into the chassis, and a CD player placed in a very futuristic vertical opening housing. High quality materials, leather inserts and special cable arrangements (only one power connector, no loose wire) make it a unique product, still used and researched today, that doesn't disfigure even in the most modern living room. The product is functional.
