[Wodehouse, P.G.] Helen Morgan’s Own Scores from Show Boat Two faux leather sheet music folders containing approximately 69 MS pages, variously notated for Conductor, Trumpet I or II, Violin A, C, or D, etc., most with Morgan’s name written somewhere on the pages. In many hands, in ink and several different colored pencils. The songs are from "Show Boat", "Sweet Adeline", and others. The folder marked “Helen Morgan” as well as “1st Violin” contains approximately 47 MS pages, heavily emended, for the following songs: Bill Don’t Ever Leave Me If It Rains Who Cares Jealousy Make Believe Man I love My Heart Stops Someday I’ll Find you Tea For Two (here written as T. 4. 2.) Thanks for the Memory That’s Why Darkies Were Born Why Do I Love You Why Was I Born You Go To My Head A note at the top of the page of one of the examples of "Why Was I Born" reads “Keep Your (illegible, vigorously crossed out) Shut Till The Last -8-“. The folder marked “Helen Morgan” as well as “1st Trumpet” contains approximately 22 MS pages, heavily emended, for the following songs: Can’t Help Lovin’ Dat Man Don’t Worry About Me Each Time You Say Good Bye Maybe Plus a few printed songs: "If It Rains-Who Cares!", "Why Do I Love You", and "My Sister And I". The lot also includes the printed sheet music for the song “Bill”, New York, 1927, plus two modern reproductions of same, and a program from the Erlanger Theatre in Philadelphia, dated December, 19, 1927. Show Boat would begin its 572-performance run on Broadway just eight days later on December 27th.
