When the work was auctioned in 1911 by Helbing auction house in Munich, it was attributed to Philips Wouwerman but it was noted in the catalogue that Cornelis Hoofstede de Groot considered this attribution to be highly dubious. Joop Nieuwstraten later assigned the painting to the œuvre of Simon Johannes van Douw, whereas Marijke C. de Kinkelder considers an attribution to Franciscus Hamers to be plausible. Das uns vorliegende Werk ist in der Online-Datenbank des RKD unter der Abbildungsnummer 82972 verzeichnet. 1911 als Philips Wouwerman im Auktionshaus Helbing in München zur Auktion angeboten, wurde es im Katalog mit der Anmerkung versehen, dass Cornelis Hoofstede de Groot diese Zuschreibung als sehr zweifelhaft erachtet. Joop Nieuwstraten ordnete das Gemälde daraufhin dem Oeuvre des Simon Johannes van Douw zu. Marijke C. de Kinkelder hält eine Zuschreibung an Franciscus Hamers für möglich.
