Downman / Pt 1787' coloured crayons and watercolour on paper, oval 19 x 15cm Footnote: Maria Brummell was one of two sisters of "Beau" Brummell and according to an indistinct label on the reverse, she "ran away with Blackshaw and had 2 daughters Lady Charleville [sic., in fact Countess Linowska] and Baronne de Maltzan." Provenance: The sitter's niece Georgiana Brummell, Lady Pigott (1802-1886) and thence by lineal family descent
