Dimensions (cm): Diameter: 20 Height: 4 Chinese Ming Dynasty Period Blue & white dragon motif porcelain Plate. The porcelain potted in shallow vessel form, thick and large, with broad wide central interior, rounded cavetto gently tapering to open wide, with a straight open lip, raised with round shallow draft, slight concave base. All reserved hand painted ornamentations are rendered in clean white under glazed base color which contrast against the cobalt blue fine color. The Central interior depicted of auspicious ornament with scrolling interlocking ribbon. The exterior wall decorated with clean white. Each section mark off and enclosed with double fine blue rings lines. Blue and white porcelain in Chinese it is called Qing Hua Ci. It is the most important variety of China’s porcelain. It was originated in the Yuan Dynasty. Its color does not easily fade and durability is longer. It used cobaltous oxide as the colorant. Patterns were directly painted onto the inner body and burnt after glaze was applied on it. The glaze is seamless and gives off a beautiful luster, with the colors maintaining excellent vibrancy.
