Dimensions: 23-1/2H x 12" W Chinese Lapis-lazuli carved into a shape of Sino-Tibetan stupa, having opening at the central body, the surface carved in relief of lotus tendrils. Adorned by gilt bronze ornament inlaid with semi precious stones inlaid, including turquoise, lapis-Lazuli, tourmaline, red corals, and pearl. Four pearl links draped from the top unto the collar stupa. The gilt bronze and Lapis-lazuli stupa cast in a hemispherical structure, the shape of the stupa represents the Buddha, adorned with gilt bronze cloisonne enamel works and many jewels on the crown set on the top of the spire; the head is the square at the spire's base; the body is the vase shape; the legs are the four steps of the lower terrace; and the base is his throne.Although not described in any Tibetan text on stupa symbolism, the stupa may represent the five purified elements:The gilt bronze square base represents earthThe hemispherical dome/vase represents waterThe conical spire represents fireThe upper lotus gilt bronze parasol and the crescent moon represents airThe sun and the dissolving point represents the element of space Underside with incised quatrefoil flori-form petal visvavajra mark surrounding the centralized DaiJi.
