Dimensions: 5.375in H x 6.5in W x 6.5in D Chinese Han Dynasty Period, Gilt silver lidded censer. Chinese bronze tripod Censer in watermelon shaped, in a cupped body, wide circular opening, globular body, slightly oval, is flat-cast on the sides with a ring banded on the center body, with dome lid reverse bowl, with small finial bud, and raised on short small round splayed foot base. All reserved carved ornamentations are rendered in dark bronze underglaze base color which contrast against the gilt silver color. The exterior carved in many kind of Chinese beast, flying Fu bat, mighty Qilin, vigorous dragon, tiger, among scrolling ruyi clouds, auspicious pattern around the surface. And the foot base rim carved with repeating Tao tie mask. The colors are harmonious, elegant and exquisite, the composition is sophisticated, simply a feast for the eye. Bronze is in gorgeous condition with minimal marring of the surface. The vessel has mottled green hues and a tinge of grayish-brown patina.
