A Chinese Famille Rose ‘King John Pattern’ Service Comprising: a small tureen, cover and stand; a pair of salts, a pair of sauce boats, a warming dish, two large oval dishes, two smaller oval dishes, two oval saucer dishes, a round saucer dish, plates (in all 21 pieces). The dishes with foliate rim, each piece decorated in famille rose enamels, painted with a brightly colored peacock and peahen perched on a rock formation under a towering peony branch in full bloom, surrounded by a band of fleur-de-lys, the bases glazed. Period: Qianlong (1736‑1795). Length: 27.5-34 cm (oval dishes).
