A Chinese ’Immortal’ Jar Of ovoid form painted in shades of underglaze blue with the unusual and continuous scene depicting an immortal holding a ruyi sceptre and a flowering branch, riding a qilin towards a pavilion with stylised rockwork and a plantain tree outside, accompanied by boy attendants, one holding a banner shading the immortal, in front two boys, one playing a drum, another a wind instrument and two further attendants with banners, swirling clouds above, the base glazed with a double blue ring, later wood cover. Period: Kangxi 1662‑1722. Height: 23 cm.
