A Chinese Blue and White Ko-Sometsuke Dish Of square form with flattened rim, decorated in shades of underglaze blue, finely painted to the centre with large lotus blooms rising from a pond, a winged insect inspecting the flowers, the cavetto decorated with tassels to each corner, the rim decorated with lotus scroll reserved against a blue ground, the base glazed, together with a further pair of ko-sometsuke dishes of similar form, painted to the centre with lotus scrolls in white reserved against a blue ground, with further lotus scrolls to the rim, the base glazed. Period: Ming, Tianqi period (1621‑1627). Length: 13-19 cm.
