A rare second quarter of the 18th century quarter chiming lantern clock Edward Hemmins, Bicester Surmounted by a strapped bell with fancy cast pieces between the straps, supported on four urn finials flanked by pierced and engraved frets over an arcaded balustrade, tapering Doric columns on ball feet, with two side doors and brass rear plate, the 6.5inch diameter Roman chapter ring with delicately engraved half-hour markers and innner quarter-hour track, the centre signed 'Edw. Hemins of Bister' over foliate scrolls, with a single blued steel hand, the weight driven movement with short verge pendulum to the going train, a brass countwheel for the hours and further chiming every quarter on eight hammers and bells mounted in the gallery above via a 2.5 inch pinned barrel mounted centrally between the movement bars. 41cms (16ins) high.
