Richard Westall RA (1765-1836) 'A storm at harvest' oil on canvas 60 x 74cm Provenance: Phillips, London, 15 December 1987, lot 32, where acquired by the vendor; Farm House, Farm Street, Mayfair, London. Condition report: Canvas has been lined. There is some light craquelure throughout. Seen under UV: the surface is covered with a layer of green varnish which makes any reading of the retouching difficult. However, there is some purple flourescing to the sky which may be a light wash of overpaint. There are some spots and flecks to the left of the lower edge due to peripheral frame rubbing. There has also been some paint loss and corresponding retouching to the left edge, also due to frame rubbing. Well presented in a gilt frame and ready to hang.
