A late Victorian diamond set star brooch/pendant, c.1890, with a central daisy cluster of old European cut diamonds. Radiating rays, grain set with rows of graduated old Swiss cut and eight cut diamonds, with blade edge bars between and culminating in a trefoil cluster of diamonds. A hinged eyelet, bale deficient, and a detachable brooch fitting. All set in silver and backed in gold. Tested as sterling silver and approximately 15ct gold, the detachable brooch fitting as approximately 9ct gold. A case by Shapland Jewels & Antiques, London. 36 x 35mm, 7.97g Condition report: Either a replacement roller catch or the whole fitting is a replacement. Bale deficient. Dirty and tarnished.
