SIX HORSES BY XU BEIHONG W.100cm H.32cm Description: This painting shows six horses galloping forward. Xu Beihong arranged the six horses in a picture, showing them in a group. The composition is sparse and dense, with the horses echoing each other in a coherent manner. The expression is different from the method of painting horses in the Tang and Song dynasties. In the Tang and Song dynasties, whether the horses were painted with emphasis on flesh or bone, they were all painted by outlining and filling in colors, taking a kind of brushwork and strong coloring method.While Beihong painted horses with a few rough lines, ink declarations, which vividly expressed the thin, hard, rigid and majestic spirit of horses. Here, the portrayal of the horse obviously draws on Western painting focusing on grasping the essence and dissecting, light and dark changes in observation and modeling techniques, focusing on the portrayal of the dynamics of the galloping horse and the grasp of the dissecting the relationship of the skeleton, thus reflecting the horse's strong, lean and hard body, the wind and spirit of the horse's speed, and the fierce momentum in the ink line outline and ink dyeing.
