According to birth, marriage, death and census records, the artist’s name is John Andrew McColvin. He was born in Winlaton, Durham in 1864. In 1901, he was living at Whitley, Tynemouth making his living as an artist. In 1911, he moved to 12 Blackhorse Lane, East Croydon and subsequently to 38 Lebanon Road, where he died in 1920.
